BeeKeepPal has built an apiary management app for novice and commercial beekeepers, on the web, iOS and Android. Beyond inspections it covers tasks with email reminders, production data and financials, and its Pro Team plan adds up to 3 users.
The differences show up when you start adding hardware. BeeKeepPal does not publish any Bluetooth sensor integration for BroodMinder or BEEP devices, and it does not publish voice transcription: its app attaches audio recordings to inspections instead.
HiveSense is built around the field workflow: a local SQLite database for instant writes, BLE reads from BroodMinder, BEEP, and standard Bluetooth scales, and Whisper voice transcription running on the device. Same inspection logging, plus sensor and voice-transcription layers that BeeKeepPal does not publish.

Can I import my BeeKeepPal data?
BeeKeepPal's mobile app exports inspections as CSV. HiveSense does not currently have a one-click importer, but reach out to support@tryhivesense.com and we will help bring structured records over. Many switchers use the move to clean up their records.
I am on Android — does HiveSense work?
HiveSense is available on both iOS and Android, so platform is no longer the deciding factor — compare on offline reliability, voice notes, and sensor support instead.
Does HiveSense work with smart hive scales?
Yes. HiveSense reads BroodMinder-W weight sensors directly over Bluetooth and also reads BroodMinder T2 and TH sensors, BEEP base sensors, and any hive scale that implements the standard Bluetooth Weight Scale profile. Weight readings appear on the same timeline as inspections, so you can correlate a weight drop with a swarm event or harvest pull.
