Other voice features send your audio to a server and wait for the transcript. Ours does not: the Whisper model downloads once over Wi-Fi (~181 MB), then transcribes right on your phone — no server round trip, no signal needed.
With Local-Only Mode, cloud sync switches off and your hive records stay on your phone. Anonymous usage analytics has its own switch in Settings.

Local-Only Mode gives privacy-conscious beekeepers complete control over their data
HiveSense now includes a Local-Only Mode for privacy-conscious beekeepers who want their hive records kept off the cloud. When enabled from Settings, cloud sync is turned off: your apiaries, inspections, treatments, harvests, and sensor data stay on your device and are not uploaded. Anonymous usage analytics has its own switch in Settings.
The app continues to work exactly as before for all local operations, and a shield icon in the status bar confirms that sync is off.
If you ever change your mind, simply toggle it off and any changes you made while in local-only mode resync to the cloud on reconnect.
