HiveBloom is good. HiveSense is the upgrade when your apiary grows.
HiveBloom built a clean, polished beekeeping journal for iOS, Android and the web that beekeepers like. The “free forever for up to 2 hives” tier is honest and generous if you only run a couple of colonies.
The friction points show up when you grow. The 2-hive free cap forces a paid subscription once you split or add a third colony, and shared apiaries, data export and harvest tracking are on that paid plan. HiveBloom does not publish Bluetooth sensor support, or where its AI dictation runs.
HiveSense is built to scale with the apiary. The free tier extends to 15 hives. BroodMinder and BEEP sensor reads pin alongside inspections. On-device Whisper handles voice notes. Team seats unlock on the Pro plan. The interface ships in 5 languages. Offline logging, as with HiveBloom — more headroom.

What are the real differences between HiveBloom and HiveSense?
Sensors are the biggest one. HiveSense reads BroodMinder, BEEP and Bluetooth weight scales directly; HiveBloom publishes NFC and QR tags for identifying hives, but no hive-sensor integration. Both apps take voice: HiveBloom's AI dictation fills in the inspection form, and HiveSense transcribes on the phone with Whisper. HiveBloom does not publish where its dictation runs. HiveBloom also has things HiveSense does not: a web app, an in-app mentor, AI Field Notes summaries, bee-club plans, and 11 interface languages to HiveSense's 5.
Can I import my HiveBloom data?
HiveBloom exports inspection data as CSV; its FAQ lists data export as a paid feature. HiveSense does not currently have a one-click importer, but reach out to support@tryhivesense.com and we will help bring structured records over. Most fields map cleanly between the two apps.
I am on Android — does HiveSense work?
Yes. HiveSense is available on both iOS and Android. HiveBloom is also on iOS, Android and the web, so either app covers a team with mixed phones.
Is the offline experience the same?
Both apps work offline. HiveBloom's FAQ says it "works fully offline" and syncs your changes when you reconnect. HiveSense also saves records on the phone first, and its voice transcription runs entirely on-device, so dictating an inspection works without any signal. HiveBloom does not publish whether its dictation works offline.
